Pocket Puffin
More than six million kids have asthma. Yet information on their asthma is spread out across many different forms of media especially for those who are triggered by the weather. Along with this there are few asthma apps for kids that encourage them to use their daily inhaler routinely.
Pocket Puffin is a fun and friendly weather-based app for kids who have asthma and use inhalers daily. A child can now check the temperature, weather, air quality, humidity, and pollen levels all factors that affect asthma sufferers. Based on a daily forecast the app will give a rating for the day: good, okay, or bad. Kids can also view a five-day forecast and see their inhaler usage history. This allows them to be able to plan ahead on days that are similar.
Pocket Puffin also encourages kids to use their daily inhaler by allowing them to personalize their puffin. Prizes are awarded for using it routinely Bluetooth allows the app to record inhaler use. Pocket Puffin sends notifications if a rescue inhaler is used, if an inhaler needs to be refilled, or if the child has missed using their daily inhaler for a couple of days. Pocket Puffin makes the daily issue of asthma easier and empowers kids to take charge.
